Artist Statement:
“Ma” is a deeply personal work that embodies the eternal bond between a child and the mother who gave them life. Set against the barren stillness of an endless desert, the scene unfolds within a grave—where love, grief, and memory transcend mortality. The figure, draped in muted tones, sits beside the wrapped body of a mother, evoking the silence of separation yet also the unbroken presence of love that lingers beyond death.

Through this painting, I sought to capture the raw intensity of human vulnerability and the spiritual weight of mortality. The golden light that washes over the barren earth serves as both a reminder of inevitable loss and a symbol of divine mercy that accompanies every ending.

This piece invites the viewer to pause, reflect, and confront the universality of death—not as an end, but as a passage. It is a meditation on memory, love, and the eternal echo of “Ma.”
