VARKHEN X — Artist Statement
VARKHEN X emerges from a world that has no recorded history.
The figure is neither a portrait nor an illustration of an existing mythology. Conceived as an unknown presence within an unexplained civilization, VARKHEN X embodies a deliberate ambiguity between ritual, authority, transformation, and the unknown.
Its golden exterior suggests neither wealth nor ornament alone. Gold becomes a visual language of permanence—an appearance of power that may conceal something entirely different beneath the surface. The concealed identity of the figure raises a fundamental question: when the face disappears, what remains to define a being?
I am interested in characters that resist immediate interpretation. VARKHEN X may be guardian, ruler, survivor, creation, or something for which humanity has no existing name.
The surrounding darkness removes every familiar point of reference. There is no landscape, no era, and no explanation—only the presence of the figure.
VARKHEN X is not a character with a finished story.
It is evidence that a story exists.
