DEFENSE — Artist Statement
DEFENSE explores the instinct to protect oneself while moving through the invisible forces that shape human existence. At the center of the work, a solitary figure appears suspended in motion, surrounded by countless threads that resemble emotional pressures, memories, fears, relationships, expectations, and unseen struggles. The figure’s movement suggests both escape and resistance—a continuous attempt to move forward without being consumed by the forces surrounding it.
The dense, vibrant threads create a visual tension between confinement and freedom. Their chaotic interweaving reflects the complexity of the inner world, where vulnerability and strength often exist simultaneously. The dark figure becomes a metaphor for the human self: fragile, resilient, and constantly negotiating with an unpredictable reality.
Through expressive color, layered texture, and dynamic movement, DEFENSE asks: What do we become when survival itself becomes an act of resistance?
