ENTANGLEMENT

Artist Statement — Shorna Abedin

ENTANGLEMENT explores the invisible networks that bind human existence—thoughts, memories, emotions, relationships, and experiences that continuously intersect and reshape one another. The work presents a field of seemingly chaotic lines, yet within this disorder lies an underlying structure: nothing exists entirely in isolation.

The dense layers of red, orange, yellow, blue, white, and darker tones represent contrasting emotional forces—desire and restraint, connection and separation, conflict and transformation. Each line crosses another, creating moments of tension, interruption, and unexpected harmony. Together, they form a visual metaphor for the complexity of an inner world that can never be reduced to a single narrative.

The black ground functions as an open, undefined space—suggesting the unknown from which these connections emerge. ENTANGLEMENT is therefore not simply an image of chaos, but an exploration of how chaos itself can contain order, meaning, and connection.

The work asks: when everything is interconnected, where does one experience end and another begin?
