Artist Statement — AUREN 001

AUREN 001 is an original visual and philosophical character that I created on August 15, 2026 as an exploration of identity, consciousness, perception, and transformation.

Through AUREN, I move beyond familiar human anatomy to imagine a form of existence that cannot be easily classified as human, machine, animal, or conventional science fiction. Its elongated body, organic textures, unusual limbs, and singular red opening are deliberately unfamiliar—not to create a symbol of evil, but to question our instinct to fear what we do not understand.

The absence of conventional eyes is particularly important to my concept. AUREN asks whether seeing is necessary for perception, and whether appearance can ever truly define identity. The red opening can suggest a voice, a wound, a portal, consciousness, or something that remains beyond definition.

The different forms of AUREN represent possibilities of becoming rather than fixed identities. They reflect the psychological reality that human beings are continually changing—through memory, fear, experience, isolation, resilience, and self-discovery.

At the heart of this work is a simple philosophical idea:

We are not defined only by the form we are given. We are defined by what we become.

I created AUREN 001 not simply as a creature, but as a psychological mirror. What the viewer sees in AUREN may reveal something about the viewer's own relationship with difference, identity, and the unknown.

For me, the purpose of art is not always to provide answers. Sometimes its greatest purpose is to leave behind a question that continues to exist in the mind long after the artwork has been seen.

AUREN 001 is my question about existence.
